I just made the best decision for me. Either way I would have won considering we are both playing for the National Championship. My parents never pressured me during the decision," Peterson told reporters, days later. Oklahoma was dominated against USC in the Orange Bowl 55-19. In Peterson's only National Championship game, AD had only 82 yards on 25 carries and zero touchdowns. In one of AD's only game that "mattered," in which he was called the difference maker, he failed.. Peterson finished with 1,925 yards and an early leader in the Heisman watch ahead of Reggie Bush for 2005. AD improved the Oklahoma rushing offense from 65th to 16th in the nation.

Injuries or whatever - God's will they don't. "I'm not worried about that. I'm focused on this season and making a run back to the Big 12 championship and hopefully a chance for the national championship." And beyond that? "I could see myself being here," Peterson said. "I ain't even really been think-ing about that. Plus, we're playing Miami. "I'm looking forward to playing Miami, too." Only does college football wish, AD returned to play The U.

4/19/06 - Adrian Peterson's car trouble. In a near mistake, Peterson returned a new car he may of received special treatment from the same car dealership, which violated NCAA regulations with quarterback Rhett Bomar and J.D. Quinn. The NCAA later cleared Oklahoma and Peterson of any infractions.

Peterson started his junior effort 139 yards on 24 carries and one score as Oklahoma defeated UAB 24-17. In the locker room Peterson is criticized by Offense coordinator Kevin Wilson, "I told him after the game, 'If you're a man, you need to go in and tell those guys you didn't play your best.' He was dancing too much early, he's looking for big plays instead of sticking it, being decisive and making great cuts," Wilson said.

9/9/06 - In a Oklahoma win over Washington 37-20. Adrian Peterson ran for 165 yards and two scores. Peterson's 165-yard effort placed him past Stanley Wilson for sixth place on Oklahoma's all-time rushing list.

9/12/06 - Peterson BACK only.. Adrian Peterson told the media his goals, were to win a National Championship and a Heisman. "My goals when I got here were win a national championship first and then have an opportunity to win the Heisman," Peterson said. 10/14/06 - Major blow to Peterson and Oklahoma. In Adrian Peterson's first game with his father in attendance suffered a near season ending injury in the fourth quarter, as Oklahoma defeated Iowa State 34-9. Peterson's Oklahoma career appeared over, the Peterson watch begins again... Sooner Nation later learns, Peterson is expected out 4-6 weeks.

10-12/06 - During all the speculation on Peterson's injury and draft status, Oklahoma's running game never misses a beat. The Sooners prove Oklahoma wasn't about one individual, instead about one team.. The Sooners end the Season as Big XII Champions and BCS Bowl Bound.

1/1/07 - Adrian Peterson entered the Fiesta Bowl 151 yards away from breaking Billy Sims' Oklahoma career rushing record of 4,118 yards. In one of College Football's most storied games, Peterson rushed 77 yards and two touchdowns in an Oklahoma overtime Boise State lose 42-43.

In the days leading up to the NFL Draft deadline, I believed I was one of the very few that thought Adrian would return. Peterson had not achieved everything he set out for, the trophies, the ring and all likelihood not the overall #1 selection. After all, he will achieve the most important, the young man providing for his family and achieving the goal of reaching the NFL. You can't but like the story Adrian Peterson left us college football fans, the great memories for Oklahoma fans, the adversity the young man from Texas that later went north to lead Sooner Nation.

It was fun watching such an electrifying superstar, playing at the top of his level every game.

Draft snapshot: RB Adrian Peterson

In preparation for Sporting News' Draft Preview edition, now on sale, Bradley conducted this Q&A with Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson, the top-rated running back in the Pro Football War Room running back rankings.

By Michael Bradley - SportingNews

Q: What was your breakthrough moment as a college player?

A: It was my freshman year against Texas, in the Cotton Bowl. (Peterson rushed for 225 yards in a 12-0 win.) That put me on the map and brought attention to me. It was my first big challenge. Any time you play against Texas you know you'll be going up against great athletes.

Q: What was your favorite moment as a college player?

A: Clinching the Big 12 championship my freshman year. That meant we would be going to the national championship game.

Q: What would your opponents say is the best thing you do?

A: I would say run hard, make extremely good cuts and have the vision to see those cuts.

Q: Why are you better than other players at your position?

A: I dedicate myself and work hard in the weight room and treat every practice as if it were a game. I have the determination and the will to be the best player I can be.

Q: What part of your game will need the most work in the NFL?

A: I have to get my pad level lower. I'll need to get my shoulders low to protect my upper body.

Q: What is the biggest challenge in making the transition to the NFL?

A: I think there will be an adjustment to the speed. The players that I have talked to who play in the NFL say that's the thing they have noticed.

Q: What do your college stats fail to say about you?

A: If you look at the stats and that's it, they don't show me to be one of the best running backs to come through the college game in the last 10 years.

Q: How would your friends describe your personality?

A: Loud, outgoing, crazy. Also laid-back and a real easy person to get along with.

Q: What NFL player are you most like?

A: I would have to say Larry Johnson, but with more speed. We have similar running styles. I don't mind taking contact, like him, and every time he hits the hole, he's ready to score a touchdown. I feel I'm similar to him in that way.

Q: What NFL player can't you wait to face?

A: I don't know if I should say this, because it might make him come after me harder, but Ray Lewis. I feel like he is the best linebacker in the league, and it would be great to go up against a player I look up to. Make sure you put that part in.

Q: What is your favorite play?

A: I like the counter play and the inside zone. They give me the opportunity, with my running style, to hit it at full speed and get a crease to go, or just hit it up in there to get two or three yards every play.

Q: What will you do when you score your first touchdown?

A: I'm going to throw two kisses into the sky. The first is for my Lord and Savior. All the things I have done in my life are through him. The second would be for my brother Brian, who passed when I was seven. I saw him get killed right in front of me. That's something that's pushing me to be a great player.

Q: What is the first thing you'll buy after signing your first contract?

A: I'm going to buy my mother a house and get her settled. I want to buy one for my father, too. For me, I'm going to buy a Bentley, candy-red on the outside and peanut butter inside.

Q: What kind of offense do you fit into best?

A: I think I would fit into an I formation, with a fullback in front of me. He can open some holes for me and give me the opportunity to make some cuts.

Patriots Just Got Themselves a New Fan

Congratulations to the New England Patriots, they just picked up Randy Moss for a dirt cheap 4th Round pick, and along the way picked up a new fan from Minnesota. The Vikings are still my team, and will always be my team, but there is something about the way the Patriots do business that cannot be ignored.

Randy Moss catching TD passes from Tom Brady in AFC games against the Steelers, Colts, Broncos....? C'mon, It doesn't get any more entertaining than that. I am looking forward to seeing as many Patriots games, as possible this season. I have my Vikes season tickets and all that, but I can already predict that my fantasy team will HAVE to consist of the New England offense; Laurence Maroney, Randy Moss, Tom Brady, Donte Stallworth. Wow. Lightning in a bottle.

Go Vikes... How can they even start comparing to the dynamic of three rings, a genius coach, and my all time favorite Viking receiver?
